thrush remedy

You've probably heard that breast milk is jam-packed with nutrients and disease-fighting ingredients that help keep babies healthy. In this case, if mother was not given antibiotics, her breast milk alone could have taken care of thrush. Whether fed to baby or applied   on thrush. Author remembers breast milk drops dropped in eye to cure conjunctivitis in childhood.

Fortunately, coconut oil contains the same compound -- lauric acid -- as mother's milk! And lauric acid is the predominant type of medium chain fatty acid found in coconut oil.

Lauric acid in both breast milk and coconut oil transforms when consumed into a substance called monolaurin, the actual compound responsible for fighting numerous types of infections. Thus coconut oil itself can serve as an anti-biotic.

In fact, a great volume of research has been done establishing the ability of lauric acid to fight dangerous micro-organisms -- things you don't want to deal with -- like viruses, bacteria, yeasts, fungi, parasites and molds. What researchers found was that this medium-chain fatty acid derivative actually disrupts the lipid (or fatty) membranes of the offending organisms. Numerous studies have indicated that many viruses are inactivated by medium-chain fats -- viruses like influenza, measles, HIV, herpes and cytomegalovirus. Bacteria like strep and staph, gonorrhea, helicobacter pylori, salmonella and clostridium botulinum.

And other infections like the yeast Candida, even the ringworm fungus. The results leave little room for doubt ... the lauric acid in coconut oil is one effortless way to protect yourself from many types of "bugs".

Author uses coconut oil light massage whenever there is a rash due to antibiotics or an itching eczema. When itch is accompanied by pricking sensation or inflammation, coconut oil came to be useful. Coconut oil available here is sweet in taste, has glycosugars also.

Coconut oil was used for healing the wounds also, thus helps multiplying the cells which cause new skin to develop. In topical application, monolaurin forms albeit slowly. Perhaps a little oil is absorbed inside the skin, goes into systemic circulation and forms into monolaurin as a result of action of enzymes.

In case pure coconut oil is difficult to get, use of shat-dhout-ghrut is recommended. The subject of oils and ghrutams deserves much more attention these days.

Come to India, go to Kerala where oil is extracted by cold pressing. the very smell of the oil, sweet, invigorating and pleasing. That smell can not be duplicated by any aromatic chemical. taste the oil for

sweetness. apply to scalp and feel the coolness, effect on nerves. If you can get fresh Copra (dried coconut) you can extract a little fresh oil by pounding it, crushing it in rollers and straining. If you do not wish to do all that effort, simply eat pieces of Copra.

Few years ago, author traveled to a place where Indian cows were fed cotton seeds, ground nut oilcake and other things which cow likes very much. the cow milk then contains little more lactose and fat. It was

morning, author had missed usual tea and was offered milk. Now tea is addictive, but till 2 pm, author did not even remember that tea was missed. same experience repeated many other time, the addiction did not

cause ringing any bells in the brain.

This is also noticed by those taking panch gavya medicines, made from cow urine, milk, ghee. contents of cow and human urine are available on the net as also panch gavya medicines. Craving for nicotine, alcohol, and that for addictive components in hypertension medication disappears.

Rejuvenation of CNS is what the best food should do. Cow milk does it as also cow urine. If a breast milk does not do it, mother shoudl start eating green vegetables and fruits if not grass. In a few days this natural living foods will make her breast milk competitive to that of Indian cow.

The Ayurveda recognizes that each individual is different. Though everyone born in Florida has been nourished by same soil and environment, still people can be different in prakruti. Based on these considerations, acharyas have given certain tests to decide suitability of each food, climate, herb for individual.

Most of the info provided by this author on coconut oil was based on the info given by a public body on coconut development, added by authors experience:

http://coconutboard.nic.in/cnoqulty.htm

The tests on oils are given by this author, as communicated to him by his Guru at:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/ayurvedaonline/message/3055

Author carried out the burning test and heat stability test on both olive oil and coconut oil and found that it is difficult to decide which oil is better. Based on "local food is best for locals", author prefers coconut oil over olive oil, since the best fat in the world "cow ghee" is very difficult to get for common man. For cooking medium, massage, dressing coconut oil seems best for south Indians, while olive oil may be more acceptable to westerners or people beyond tropics.

It is interesting that while oils loose medical benefits after heating, cow milk increases its medical usefulness by conversion to higher forms such as butter, ghee etc. Nutrition is of course best in raw milk. Ayurveda offers medicines for nervous system, endocrine problems made in cow ghee, so that they have more sharpness and bio-availability. Shat dhout ghee is specially good for thrush and wound healing.

But the suggestion of using probiotics for thrush is inexpensive, convenient and more focused. But instead of using processed or vacuum dried lactobasilus powder, author prefers to use live culture from yoghurt, specially prepared with application to anti-biotic damage cure. For vaginal candidiasis, this has a proven success in author's practice, albeit bit slow. Instead of "leave overnight" tablets of probiotic culture, a handmade cotton pessary containing thick yoghurt gives better result. For very stubborn yeast infection, it takes about 10-12 days of application.
